Artificial Intelligence (A.I) tools have transformed multiple fields by generating content, managing information, customer service, data analysis and more. However, the misconception that A.I can serve as a complete substitute for human intelligence and expertise has led to misuse by individuals and companies.

From the individual side many believe services like Chat GPT can handle responsibilities such as research, completing homework, dissertations, thesis, or essays without human input.  Since A.I. is perceived as intelligent, many individuals assume it is accurate without even fact checking.

Within some companies, A.I. is used for customer service, data analysis, retail, manufacturing, and various other purposes. While it’s crucial for industries to progress in order to drive economic growth and stay completive; it is equally important to reinvest in and reallocate existing human resources. Simply eliminating roles without offering education or retraining opportunities is not a wise approach.

Placing complete trust in A.I. without human supervision and critical evaluation can result in errors, spread of misinformation and a decline of sentiment which is a human element. The overreliance on technology that is still in its beta stages is concerning and there needs to be stronger safeguards against overdependence on it. The technology was pitched as “artificial general intelligence that benefits all of humanity” but how is over dependence on this technology beneficial.
